Design Concepts Announces Erik Spring Promotion to Associate

Erik Spring

Lafayette, Colorado...December 8, 2014 - Design Concepts, an award-winning Colorado based community and landscape architecture firm, announced Erik Spring has been promoted to Associate.

Erik Spring joined the firm in 2002 and is instrumental implementing valuable firm initiatives.  Recognized for elevating awareness of unique opportunities such as new technologies, Erik’s contributions have added new value to the firm’s already renowned abilities and expertise.

“Erik is a contributing force keeping Design Concepts tech-savvy and up-to-date with new programs and social media trends, in addition to his leadership in project management and irrigation design,” stated Carol Henry, ASLA, President.

Erik hopes to contribute to the firm’s future by creating new interpretations of how people play and recreate.  “One exciting area undergoing dramatic paradigm change is designing technology into parks. Design today goes beyond the physical setting and explores where people interact together, discover multiple-layered ways to play, and find new experiences upon future visits.  Incorporating technology into the park setting is an exciting and fast-growing trend like interactive versions of treasure hunts or ‘crack-the-code’.”  Similarly, Erik possesses a deep appreciation of classical design such as remarkable landscapes that stand the test of time.  “Being around creative thought-leaders and people doing really cool new things inspires me,” states Spring.

Recently completed projects include the ‘Patterns of Nature’-themed learning landscape at Conservatory Green Middle School and High Tech Elementary School for Denver Public Schools. Currently he is working on several cutting-edge innovative projects including the redevelopment of Arapahoe Fairgrounds in Arapahoe County, Colorado where the team is introducing new paradigms in fairgrounds design, functionality and service in the 21st Century.
