BVSD's Casey Middle School was the first LEED platinum school in Colorado at the time it opened. The building features a preserved historic facade and innovative sustainable design principles and materials. The site is low water consuming and efficient. The building's green roof is visible from the playground and entry. The site features a community gathering space area, fun playground imagery and sandblasting and games, a student garden, climbing wall and an efficient irrigation sprinkler system. The synthetic turf field helps minimize the amount of bluegrass used while providing virtually unlimited playability and low maintenance.
