| Description: | Design Concepts provided a full level of services for the City of Thornton on the Thornton Sports Complex project: Master planning, schematic and design development, and construction documents, as well as assisting with entitlements and the plat and development permitting process. Due to an extremely flat site, the challenge we faced on this project was importing large amounts of fill material to accommodate the grading needs of sports fields, and also addressing the proper design of the drainage systems. The Complex contains 4 youth baseball/softball fields, with seasonal football and soccer use. All fields are lighted, with a programmable system for optimal lighting depending on the type of sports use. 280 parking spaces will serve the needs of players and spectators. Custom-designed structures include a play structure, shelters, maintenance and storage buildings. | ||
