Design Concepts worked with the Adams 12 School District as they were creating new design guidelines for their elementary school playgrounds. The District had different element requirements for each of their three typical school sizes. Our scope included reviewing their standards, providing appropriate space requirements for these elements, designing a prototype playground which met their standards, developing a cost estimate for each of the three playground sizes, and providing a "kit of parts" packet to go along with the design guidelines.
From this work, Design Concepts prepared master plans and cost estimates for selected existing schools, worked with the District and school personnel to determine which portions of the master plans could be implemented with bond funds, prepared construction documents and provided construction observation for those schools. To date, Design Concepts has completed nineteen master plans and construction documents for 15 of those schools. Design Concepts will assist with the approximately 6 remaining elementary school playgrounds that are left to be designed in the District.
