| Description: | Bison Park has been designed to be a (neighborhood) park within the Meadows Development in the Town of Castle Rock. The park focuses on active recreation and has two synthetic turf multi-use fields, four tennis courts, and three age separated playground areas. Additional amenities include three picnic shelters, a restroom building, an outdoor classroom, and a sledding hill. The park has been themed around time and the seasons, and is incorporated in the park through forms, structures, and decorative elements. Some of decorative elements include seasons stone monuments, sandblasted stone shelter columns, sandblasted etchings in the pavement, and a decorative entry sign. The plantings in the plaza area also reflect the seasons, with plants grouped for a seasonal focus. The overall landscape has been designed with a responsible use of water, through the use of synthetic turf and limiting sod to high use areas. It also meets the Town of Castle Rock's watering restrictions. Design and construction has been a collaborative effort with the Douglas County School District, as the adjacent elementary school will be sharing one of the synthetic turf fields. | ||
