Monte Vista is a small agricultural community in southwest Colorado. Its challenges range from a slumping economy to competition from neighboring communities. Luckily, Monte Vista has an historic core that could provide a base for economic development. At the core is the historic Ski-Hi rodeo grounds. This project created a Parks and Recreation Master Plan that meets the future needs of the community along with assessing current conditions of the Ski-Hi Facility and assisting the City in determining future uses for the facility. GreenPlay worked with RRC, Design Concepts, and Geowest to provide a 5-year plan that included a comprehensive public process and needs assessment to help prioritize future projects, growth strategies, and funding mechanisms that would be the best long term choices for the agency.
