Design Concepts was hired by the Town of Winter Park to create a design for the Hideaway Park Events Space in downtown Winter Park. A goal of this project is to create a unique sense of identity reflecting the character of Winter Park, as well as to further develop the community's main winter sledding hill and summer amphitheater event space. Custom detailing for this park will express the new design theme: Rivers and Mountains. This theme focuses on the various elements, forms and colors found in the unique natural area surrounding the Town of Winter Park and Frasier Valley. Seasonal and musical elements will also be integrated to create fun gathering and play areas to be discovered and enjoyed.
Development will include building up and sodding the existing slope to create a permanent sledding hill and a more comfortable seating area for concerts and events. New plaza spaces with seating, fire pits and play elements will also be added. The increase in grade will allow for a climbing wall to be developed. Shade structures are being considered to help keep concert attendees protected from the rain and sun and the structures will also increase picnic areas. The stage will continue to be a temporary structure but a permanent green room and small service drive with parking lot will be added. Construction is schedule to begin in August 2007 for the first phase of construction. |
