Irrigation Designer/Draftsperson (1-3 years)

We’re looking for a special new team member to join our firm! Design Concepts is seeking a talented and knowledgeable Irrigation Designer/Draftsperson to join our studio environment and to complement our firm.

We are seeking a highly motivated, creative and personable individual with 1-3 years of irrigation design experience.


Required skills include:

  • Possess a strong understanding of irrigation design principles, irrigation technical specifications, and installation methods

  • Able to implement irrigation design principles supporting efficiency and water conservation

  • Familiarity with current irrigation products from major manufacturers including irrigation controllers (2-wire and conventional), heads and nozzles, small pump stations, pipe material, and drip irrigation, as well as knowledge of Colorado plant water requirements.

  • Willingness to stay current, learn and grow in irrigation product knowledge and grow within the industry

  • Willingness to learn and follow jurisdictional agency's standards and be capable of preparing submittals and facilitating their review process on behalf of the Client.

  • Meet with Clients to facilitate project work and gather Client's material preferences

  • Prepare schematic design, design development, and construction documents for irrigation scope

  • Willingness to perform site visits during design and construction

  • Work directly with contractors during construction to resolve issues, inspect installations and provide detailed written reports.

  • High level of attention to quality and detail and ability to multitask projects while maintaining good work productivity

  • Strong graphic and technical computer skills in AutoCAD. Knowledge of LandFX is preferred

  • Minimum H.S. diploma

  • Certification Irrigation Designer (CID) by the Irrigation Association is a plus

Internships

Design Concepts is looking for an enthusiastic intern to join our team in Summer 2024. We’re a landscape architecture practice focused on the design of public community spaces—parks, schools, greenways, open space, trails, and other civic projects. Creating healthy communities and environments is at the forefront of our design. Our open studio is full of creative folks who share a passion for our craft and a commitment to serve the greater community.   

This paid internship spans from May to August 2024, with flexible start and end dates. We can accommodate full-time or part-time candidates.

At Design Concepts, you’ll get to: 

  • Be immersed in a professional environment working on real-world public projects. 

  • Collaborate on project work at varying design phases, including design charettes, graphic production, and material selection. 

  • Grow your design and communication skills. 

  • Visit projects in construction and built work. 

  • Build your portfolio and resume and have them professionally reviewed. 

To apply, you must: 

  • Be a student in a landscape architecture, environmental design, or planning program (landscape architecture students are preferred). 

  • Have completed at least two years of your program. 

  • Be able to work in person at our studio in Lafayette, Colorado during the internship. 

Preferred candidates will: 

  • Be excited to learn and contribute. 

  • Have proficient sketching and hand graphics skills. 

  • Be familiar with AutoCAD and Adobe Creative Suite.
